About
Gina Wurtz is a New-York based writer who received her BFA in Screen Studies at The New School in Manhattan. She later enrolled in a Film and Television course with Yellowbrick, Rolling Stone, and NYU Tisch School of Arts. She has written articles analyzing films and film characters for the pop-culture website, The Daily Fandom, and worked as the co-editor of the intersectional feminist publication Sugar Mag.
She's written about film and television for publications like Rolling Stone, HuffPost, and Screenrant. Gina also has a weekly newsletter called Movie Mondays With Gina, where she offers her perspective and analyses on her favorite films–she loves 2000s chick flicks like The Princess Diaries more than anything else!
As a Screenwriter, Gina focused on comedy and satire to create the short screenplay for Tony Vampirelli, a murder mystery centered around an Italian vampire. She then tapped into her love for sci-fi for The Facility, a comedy that follows main character Mary Sue as she attempts to solve the mysterious disappearance of her older brother, Carl. Gina is very inspired by writer and director Ryan Murphy’s ability to tackle various genres and never box himself into one thing. She also admires Greta Gerwig and James Cameron, amongst many other writers and directors.
When not writing, Gina can be found playing the guitar, listening to Taylor Swift, or playing The Sims. Talk to her about: Manifesting, Stephen King, Titanic, Siberian Huskies, Traveling, Wicked The Musical, and what books are on her reading list!
